The Diagnosis
A Sudden Turn No One Saw Coming
In March 2025, Mama Beth began experiencing pain on the left side of her abdomen. At first, it seemed like something manageable. There were no immediate red flags, and we hoped it was just a minor issue. But by the end of the month, her doctor recommended a CT scan and that’s when everything changed.
The results were heartbreaking. It showed an enlarged uterus, visible masses on both ovaries, a buildup of abdominal fluid, and thickening across the abdominal lining. These findings were deeply concerning and pointed to something far more serious than anyone expected.
On April 4, 2025, Mama Beth underwent emergency surgery at Adventist Medical Center in Manila. During the procedure, doctors discovered that cancer had spread throughout her abdomen and into surrounding tissues. Tumors were also found in other areas of her body.
Because of how widespread the cancer had become, it wasn’t possible to remove everything. Doctors took multiple biopsies and placed a drain to help manage the fluid buildup and relieve some of her discomfort. That day marked the beginning of a journey no one ever wants to face.
Mama Beth was officially diagnosed with Stage 3B ovarian cancer — a serious and complex condition that requires immediate treatment. She is also managing hypertension, which adds challenges to her care and recovery.
Right now, our focus is helping her regain strength so she can begin chemotherapy. Every day is a step forward. While the path is uncertain, we remain hopeful and grounded in faith, surrounding her with love and support.
